Location/Region: This position is located in Dublin California.

What's the role?

The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for analyzing, forecasting, and budgeting operating expenses in support of the company's goals and objectives, including providing decision support and advice to management through financial planning, performance monitoring and variance analysis on the Research and Development area. The analyst will partner with the R&D teams to develop the annual budgets and operational forecasts. This resource works independently and relies on business acumen, numerical evidence, and trends to provide conclusions.  The Sr. Financial Analyst supports the R&D team with strategic product development and investment decisions. Assist in financial evaluation of business opportunities and prepares analysis to determine past, present, and future financial performance. Analyze financial information and effectively monitor and forecast operating expenses for the company. Analyze financial data, defining relevant information, and interpret the results for the purpose of determining past financial performance and potential risks and future opportunities. Coordinate regular business reviews for the supported functional areas while presenting financial overviews and communicating success areas and areas for improvement. Assist in the preparation of yearly budget and quarterly forecast development. Develop various financial reports for forecasting, trending, budgeting, and results analysis. Focus on project level budgeting, resource and portfolio planning, and rationalizing R&D investments. Own monthly executive management reporting consolidating R&D financial performance metrics.

Here's what you'll do:

• Analyze financial information and fulfill all duties required to effectively monitor and forecast R&D expenses for the company.
• Prepare financial analysis supporting product and capital investment decisions.
• Analyze financial data, defining relevant information and interpreting the results for the purpose of determining past financial performance and potential risks and opportunities for the future.
• Coordinate regular business reviews for the supported functional areas, presenting financial overviews and communicating success areas and areas for improvement.
• Assist in the preparation of yearly budget and quarterly forecast development for the supported functional areas.
• Take part in assignments to enhance the operational and financial effectiveness of the supported functional areas.
• Develop various financial reports for forecasting, trending, budgeting and results analysis.
• Gather data from financial systems for analysis (SAP/ERP, SAP/BW, etc.).
• Provide analytical support to other departments on an on-going basis. This includes analysis of current trends as well as what-if scenarios. The Sr. Financial Analyst is expected to be proactive in preparing analysis and using it to drive changes in the business as supported by his/her manager.
• Produce ad hoc analysis and reports as required.

Do you qualify?

• BA/BS in Finance, Accounting or equivalent experience
• MBA preferred
• 8 years of relevant experience in finance
• Minimum of 5 years of financial planning and analysis experience
• Communication skills that clearly present ideas, theories, and technical financial information to executives, operational, and managerial staff, both formal and informal
• Must be able to work collaboratively and cross-functionally
• Extensive computer skills, particularly in Excel is a must
• Experience with project accounting preferred
• Experience in SAP in particular with Internal Orders is preferred
• Proven ability to master new challenges in so far untapped areas quickly acquiring a reasonable understanding of technical, product and solution related elements
• Capable of setting up new structures and procedures from scratch while interacting with Senior Management from different areas
• Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Must be proactive and able to work independently in a variety of financial activities
• Must be accurate, detailed oriented, professional, and timely in all aspects of job duties

The annual pay range for this position is  $121,900 - $152,400.

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.
