KSTU, the E.W. Scripps FOX station in Salt Lake City, Utah is looking for an Evening Anchor who is a reporter first – a dynamic journalist who breathes breaking news and sees the newsroom as a launching pad, not a destination. We want a storyteller who doesn't just read the news, but chases it, lives it, and actively shapes the narrative. Every day, you'll be more than an on-air presence: you'll be pitching in editorial meetings, calling sources, and embedding yourself in the community. The role demands someone who is consistently visible, engaged, and passionate about local storytelling. WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Anchor evening broadcasts Monday-Friday. Report regularly.
Generate compelling story ideas tailored for multiple platforms.
Report live on location from various news events.
Organize material, and write stories according to prescribed editorial story style, and formats for each of our platforms- including digital.
Research stories through personal contacts, the internet and other sources deciding the best angle and approach for the story.
Collaborate effectively with News, Promotion, Production and Engineering on daily broadcast, special projects and online coverage.
Make community appearances and participate in station-led initiatives.
Build a network of informational sources to provide exclusive stories for the Scripps brand.
Meet all production deadlines.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Bachelor's degree in relation discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience.
Generally, 5+ years on-camera experience preferred.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Must connect on camera with a sense of urgency.
Ability to cultivate sources and mine stories.
Knowledge of newsroom computers and computer databases strongly preferred.
Must demonstrate strong news judgment and organizational skills.
Must have keen sense of logistics and ability to work well under intense pressure and deadlines.
Must have good creative and editorial judgment, mastery of journalistic ethics, and libel law.
Must be able to speak clearly and concisely.
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits.
