Environmental Technician (Finance)
Position is contingent upon contract funding
As the Environmental Technician , you will conduct tests and field investigations to obtain data to be used by environmental, engineering, and scientific personnel to determine sources and methods of controlling pollutants in air, water, and soil, utilizing knowledge in engineering principles and applied technologies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Conducts chemical and physical laboratory and field tests to determine characteristics or composition of solid, liquid, or gaseous materials and substances.
- Collects samples of gases from smokestacks, and collects other air samples and meteorological data to assist in evaluation of atmospheric pollutants.
- Collects water samples from semi-processed or processed water, industrial waste water, or water from other sources to assess pollution problem. Collects soil, silt, or mud to determine chemical composition and nature of pollutants.
- Prepares sample for testing, records data, and prepares summaries and charts for review.
- Installs, operates, and performs routine maintenance on I gas and fluid flow systems, chemical reaction systems, mechanical equipment, and other test instrumentation.
- May conduct bacteriological or other tests related to research in environmental or pollution control activity.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Must have an Associate Degree with science major and four (4) years performing related duties.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Must have knowledge of federal, state, and installation environmental regulations.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid U.S. Passport (preferred)
Valid U.S. Driver's License with clean driving report
