Test and Developement Tech (Engineering)

We are looking for a dynamic Test & Development Technician to join our team!

Where we are located: Our corporate headquarters is in Adrian, Michigan, and we have manufacturing facilities located in Hopkinsville, Kentucky; Shelbyville, Indiana; and Monterrey, Mexico. This position could potentially be housed in any of our locations.
What the position entails: The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and responsible for testing, diagnosing, and developing HVAC and Refrigeration systems to ensure they meet performance standards and specifications. This role involves working closely with engineering teams to design, implement, and improve HVAC and Refrigeration products. The technician will utilize various testing equipment and methodologies to assess system performance, troubleshoot issues, and document findings.

Major Responsibilities:
Testing and Evaluation:
Conduct performance tests on HVAC & Refrigeration systems, components, and prototypes.Use, develop, assemble and/or source innovative diagnostic tools and equipment, including but not limited to: Tube calorimeter, HVAC calorimeter, Water Heater calorimeter and Refrigeration Thermal Cycling, to identify and resolve issues.Coordinate testing schedules for test chambers and calorimeters.Evaluate system performance against design specifications and industry standards.Document and update procedures and changes to procedures to ensure internal control and understanding.
Development and Prototyping:
Assist in the development of new HVAC products and improvements to existing systems.Build and modify prototypes for testing purposes.Collaborate with engineers to refine designs based on test results.
Data Collection and Analysis:
Record and analyze test data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.Manage the data collection software and organization of historical testing data and trends comparative testing over time to base line data.Define, evaluate, analyze, and report on performance characteristics of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems and components.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
Diagnose and repair issues with HVAC systems during testing.Maintain test equipment through periodic sensor calibration and expendable component replacement.Perform regular maintenance on testing equipment to ensure reliability.Implement corrective actions based on test results and feedback.Interface and collaborate with equipment suppliers and service maintenance contractors.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all testing procedures comply with safety standards and regulations.Maintain a clean and organized work environment.Adhere to company policies and industry best practices.Actively support our 5S+Safety Program.Actively support and manage within Brazeways mission, vision, Code of Conduct and Process Based Leadership guidelines.

What a candidate must have to be qualified for the role:
Proven experience as an HVAC technician or in a similar role. Minimum three years of experience with HVAC and refrigeration system testing, diagnostics, and development. Strong understanding of HVAC & Refrigeration systems and components. Strong mechanical aptitude required. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and testing equipment. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to lift and move heavy equipment. Comfortable working in various environments, including confined spaces and at heights. Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
