Nemours is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Research Department. This is a remote position. The Financial Analyst - Research is responsible for providing financial support for the Research Department annual operating budget, PI funding portfolios, and monthly and ad hoc financial reporting and analysis under the direction of the Research Finance and Research Administration. Responsibilities include collecting and summarizing FTE information for the Annual Operating Budget process, preparing cost transfers, effort certifications/allocations for research associates, managing R&D accounts, creating and distributing financial reports for Nemours sponsored activities, coding APIA expenses, tracking graduate student funding and acting as the primary contact for miscellaneous cash invoicing and deposits. In person and electronic communication with staff and faculty regarding budget and financial reviews and problem resolution. Incumbent is responsible for the oversight and management of assigned PI research portfolios in terms of reviewing expenditures, reconciliation, invoicing, preparing interim reports, resolving financial discrepancies, reviewing and submitting cost transfers, and managing the award closeout process. The Financial analyst is responsible for helping manage a research portfolio over $6M in internal and extramural funding/expenditures and to serve as a subject matter expert within Research for problem resolution for PI's, Nemours associates, and external entities as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; finance or related field
At least one year relevant financial experience required
Primary Responsibilities:
Collect and summarize FTE information for all Research sites for the department of Hematology and Oncology. Maintain current FTE budget data for reporting and management review. Responsibilities include reconciling data to approved FTEs and maintaining effort information in the institution's effort reporting system.
Distribute monthly financial reports for Nemours sponsored activities to researchers and administrators. Prepare summarized information for management review.
Prepare cost transfers for all locations related to payroll and non-payroll corrections for the department of Hematology and Oncology.
Manage funded projects, including Clinical Trials, in compliance with Nemours policies and standard operating procedures; when applicable, with consideration to external audits according to OMB (Office of Management and Budget), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and other federal and state guidelines.
Create Project number, update Labor Distribution Profiles for Payroll process
Responsible for post-award services including, timely set-up of project activity account, day-to-day expense to budget financial management, analyze agreements and grant awards to determine administrative restrictions.
Review, audit and approve expenditures and related documentations, process labor and non-labor cost transfers in accordance to sponsor allowability & requirements.
Monitor expenditures, analyze variance of actual costs versus budget.
Maintain updated financial projections according to activity dates and budget variances.
Partner with Post-Award Accounting on activity number set-up, financial reviews, reconciliations, projections, close-outs, and final financial reporting (FFR).
Ensure timely submission of the technical progress reports or deliverables by principal investigators in accordance with grant guidelines or contract provisions
