We are looking to hire a Junior Credit Underwriter for our fast-growing team!
Please note this role is on-site at our Waynesboro, VA location.
DuPont Community Credit Union (DCCU) is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Junior Credit Underwriter to join a high performing, rapidly growing Consumer Credit department. What You'll have the Opportunity to do:
Provide loan decisions and/or credit recommendations based on a review of all underwriting criteria. including, but not limit to, collateral, interest rate, credit report(s), member relationship, character of borrower(s), and fees.
Review and verify loan documents.
Approve loans in accordance with board approved loan policy and business policy.
Prepare denial notices in accordance with the Equal Credit Opportunity Act regulations and as established by internal procedures.
Informs Member Advisors of loan decisions in a timely manner and provides clear written instruction of any conditions pertaining to a loan decision.
Maintain a working knowledge of loan origination systems and core systems.
Approve or Deny interest payment request, loan payment deferral requests, and due date changes according to current loan policy and procedure.
Look for additional opportunities to cross-sell credit union loan products and services as appropriate to enhance the financial well-being of our members.
Provides courteous and prompt support to DCCU staff as outlined in the DCCU mission and vision statements, as well as our core values.
Attend and participate in necessary compliance training.
Continuously evaluate and look for efficiencies through process improvements and streamlining procedures.
Display initiative through pursuing development opportunities within the department.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring to the Table
A high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in accounting or consumer lending is preferred.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Computer skills/literacy.
Courteous and friendly member relation skills.
Problem solving and decision-making skills.
Demonstrated ability to make loan decisions.
