As Corporate Counsel at Royal Credit Union, you will play a crucial role in advising and counseling our team on a variety of legal issues. You will maintain a thorough knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and rules impacting our business and our Members. Your expertise will be essential in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documents, as well as representing Royal in court, regulatory, and administrative proceedings, as needed.
Annual Salary:
$127,358.00 - $169,998.00Â (candidates with significant related experience may be higher)
Description:
The Corporate Counsel supports Royal and staff by advising and counseling on a variety of legal issues relating to the business of Royal. They maintain a thorough knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and rules impacting Royal. Corporate Counsel drafts, reviews and negotiates legal documents as well as appears and represents Royal in court, regulatory, and administrative proceedings. Will provide legal advice related to credit union operations, regulatory compliance, member complaints, and all other matters as necessary. Will communicate the law and legal concepts as they relate to financial services and general business matters affecting Royal.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time exempt level position generally working Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm with additional hours as needed.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University
- Juris Doctorate Degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in Wisconsin/Minnesota upon hire.

5 years of experience as a practicing Attorney in a law firm or in-house legal department working with (can be a combination of experience):
- Contract review and preparation
- Collections/Repossessions/Foreclosure/Bankruptcy
- Mortgage lending
- Commercial lending
- General banking law
- General corporate law
- Transactional (merger & acquisition) law
- Excellent understanding of financial regulations and their effect on a financial institution
- Ability to independently manage the details of multiple programs and projects, to track activities and meet deadlines under minor supervision.
- Well-developed research skills, excellent analytical and critical thinking skills and the ability to identify, review and communicate appropriate recommendations
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidential information appropriately and exercise discretion, sensitivity and tact at all times.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Comprehend and interpret policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
- Demonstrate objectivity and logical thinking.
- Display inquisitiveness and creativity to solve problems and develop suggestions
- Display meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and related software.

Training:
Prior to starting a normal work schedule, new Royal team members must attend Foundation Training at our Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI from 9:00am - 4:30pm on Monday and Tuesday during their first week of employment. Out of town learners will be reimbursed costs related to travel and lodging.Â
