Activities Assistant / Instructional Aide (Education)
High school diploma or GED required.
Associate's degree or higher in Social Science/Psychology, Child Development, Education, Art Recreation or Technology preferred.
One year of experience working with children preferred.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
A valid California driver's license is required of staff who have regular driving duties and the driving record must meet the requirements of their position and be approved by the agency's insurance company
Essential Job Functions:
Physical capability to restrain children, lift over 20 pounds, and engage in physical activities including various sports, sitting, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, reaching, etc.
Protect and honor individual integrity through confidentiality.
Physical, mental and emotional health adequate to perform job duties.
Ability to work in a harmonious manner with subordinates, supervisors, and others.
Ability to work effectively with cultural/ethnic diversity.
Successfully pass competency tests related to the accurate and thorough documentation of incidents and effective communication practices.
Demonstrates reliable and punctual attendance to ensure continuous support and presence for students and staff.
Responsibilities:
Assisting in all classroom/activity responsibilities under the direction of the Teacher.
Assist in planning and organizing school events, extracurricular activities, and special programs.
Implementation of the Academic program under the supervision of the Teacher.
Utilize program specific screening tools and complete other program related forms.
Responsible for yard duty (recess coverage) and bus duty (receiving, loading children) as directed by the Teacher.
Support after school duty on pre-assigned days.
Be flexible and available for movement throughout the Program/School as directed by the Teacher (i.e., in the case of staff absences).
Responsible for preventing and controlling infection.
Responsible for maintaining a culture of quality and safety.
Effectively use de-escalation skills and techniques for crisis prevention.
Properly administer the C-SSRS to help prevent suicide.
Effectively use Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques for crisis prevention and/or
Effectively communicate with clients with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to teach life domain skills and adhere to principles of normalization.
Safe Serve Certified to accept/temp/and serve school breakfasts and lunches when needed.
Responsible for preventing and controlling infection.
Responsible for maintaining a culture of quality and safety.

Transportation
Transport students as needed who do not have alternative transportation to and from school.
Transport students as needed on special outings, reinforcement activities, community field trips and sporting activities.
Assist other programs as needed with transportation and pick up and deliver program items needs as requested.
Other transporting duties as requested.
Provide assistance and support to the Career/Vocational Program.
