The Training Coordinator will play a pivotal role in designing, delivering, and assessing high-quality training programs for Lakeside Book Company across both Harrisonburg locations. This position will collaborate with departments to develop and coordinate training programs that enhance employee skills, improve efficiency, and support the success of both sites. The Training Coordinator will ensure that all employees receive the necessary training to effectively and safely perform their job duties.
Work hours: Core work hours will be M-F, 4am-12pm, but may need to fluctuate depending on business needs.
Responsibilities
Work with Training supervisor for the planning, delivery, evaluation & administration of training programs to include new employee orientation, skill up, cross training, on-the-job, skill development, compliance, safety, regulatory, corporate and other training as needed.
Work with departments to develop new hire training program tailored to department needs, ensuring consistency within the program structure and to corporate standards
Develop and maintain training materials, including presentations, workbooks, and online learning modules.
Tracks training events, keeps accurate training records and provides reports on training progress and completion to leadership
Identify areas of deficiency within training and provide feedback and a plan to quickly correct
Establish training goals and objectives for each trainee
Determine action steps, time frames and resources for achieving goals and objectives
Evaluate and keep supervisor apprised of employee status, progress and any concerns
Identify and request resources needed to efficiently and effectively accomplish work objectives
Facilitate assessments of employee's knowledge, skill and ability for accomplishing projects/tasks
Lead trainings in person, virtually or recorded
Communication liaison between department leadership/trainer/trainee
Job Knowledge and Skill
Demonstrated strong communication skills in oral and written communications. Experience delivering training sessions preferred
Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
Proficient in computer applications (including Google Suites and MS Office - Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
Ability to identify and assess training needs within an organization
Understands meeting facilitation principles, adult learning theory and techniques and best practices for creating / delivering effective training
