The Bag Machine Adjuster Responsible for the safe and efficient setup, repair, adjustment, and operation of bag machines. Operates bag machine manufacturing equipment according to manufacturing orders (MO) and the production schedule, including troubleshooting, problem-solving, ink mixing, plate control, and color matching. Ensures compliance with company operating, safety, and 5S housekeeping procedures, practices, and policies. Provides training and guidance to Bag Machine Chute Tenders.
WHAT YOULL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
2+ years of prior manufacturing experience.Flexographic printing experience preferred.Excellent mechanical ability and manual dexterityAbility to read and write in English, and able to understand policies, procedures, Manufacturing Orders (MO) and use common machine measuring equipment.Basic math skills.Good communication skills and an ability to work in a team environment.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Facilitates production by ensuring all bag machine schedules are being followed. Responsible for accurate production reporting and components in the visual workplace (5S). Ensures materials and tooling are identified and stages ahead of schedule, including laying plates, preparing formers, and mixing/checking inks before the setup to reduce downtime. Coordinates and ensure Bag Machine operators are trained in quality checks, case labeling, general cleaning, and are assisting with roll changes.Prepares, sets up, and operates bag machines. Operators bag machines to manufacture product from start (as rolls of paper) to finished product (sealed bags made to specific size and quality standards). Ensures machines are run during breaks, waste removal activities, and other events to ensure production readiness. Preforms high level set-ups to include, but not limited to, changing gears, nip rolls and/or pad to specific tube lengths required; Setting knife speed indicators; Adjusts draw rollers, nip rolls, and guide rolls; mounting printing plates; select and install specific printing cylinders.Checks the presses to make sure the webs are threaded correctly for each job and that all components are installed properly. Ensures all mechanisms and other parts/assemblies are operational.Maintains an organized work area and works in a clean and efficient manner in accordance with established standards, productivity levels, Manufacturing Orders (MO), Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs), safety guidelines, and 5S housekeeping.Maintains inventory of inks, glues, and other raw materials needed. Escalates irregularities in inventory and shortages to supervisor for immediate attention.Troubleshoots bag machine errors and works with maintenance to diagnose and fix mechanical problems when they occur. Helps propose machine modifications and upgrades to improve quality, capacity, and production.All other duties as assigned by management and supervisor staff.
Applicants must be comfortable working in a non-temperature-controlled environment. Hearing protection and steel toed shoes are required. Safety, hygiene and cleanliness is strictly enforced. Applicants must be able to engage in periods of long standing and walking, and perform consistent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
Compensation Range: $18.29 22.37 per hour, consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based onthe skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position.
