Your Role: Director of Health, Safety and Environment
Ensure adherence to regulatory, legal, and company internal policies regarding the health, safety, and environment (HSE) for our US Poultry Vaccine site located in Winslow, ME. Take a synergistic approach to establishing, implementing, and maintaining good standards in health protection, HSE management systems, line management support systems, along with applicable legal requirements (Federal, State, and local), and the Corporate HSE Policies and Guidelines.
Your Responsibilities:
Champions HSE initiatives, fosters a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization, and provides direction on HSE requirements, objectives, and goals. This includes leading the onsite HSE and Occupational Health team.
Maintains and improves the HSE management system, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations and legal requirements. This includes identifying, assessing, and mitigating health risks (including biosafety).
Serves as the primary point of contact for HSE regulators and authorities, representing the site in all HSE-related interactions.
Conducts risk assessments, implements control measures, and oversees medical surveillance programs to minimize employee and third-party exposure to hazards (chemical, biological, radiological, etc.).
Manages the annual HSE budget, participates in site leadership decision-making, and collaborates cross-functionally with other departments (QA/QC, TS/MS, Engineering, etc.) to achieve HSE goals. Also responsible for maintaining site security and ensuring compliance with Homeland Security regulations.
What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety & Health, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in occupational health and safety covering manufacturing and/or research laboratory environment.
Previous leadership experience directing other health and safety professionals.
What Will Give You the Competitive Edge (preferred qualifications):
Master's degree desirable.
Experience in transformational change through a proactive Behavioral Based Safety culture approach.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
