Position Overview
The Loader Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy and complex equipment requiring skill and the exercise of independent judgment.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties & Functions)
- Load material from stockpiles, charges batch plants, and loads trucks.
- Oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment.
- Operate front end loader and skid steer loader equipment safely and efficiently.
- Responsible for safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading.
- Locate utilities and other buried lines prior to digging.
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
- Knowledge of trenching and shoring standards.
- Perform daily pre-and-post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
- Keep time and material records.
- Fill cold feed bins, maintain stockpiles, yard, and road areas
- Knowledge of weight requirements of loads leaving the pit.
- Travel from interstate highway to rural dirt roads from various locations.
Skills & Specifications
- Mechanical, cutting, and welding skills preferred.
- Ability to understand follow verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge in operating heavy equipment and the hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations and construction sites.
- Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures.
- Must be willing travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and overtime when necessary.
- Will require all state required associated licenses for machinery operation.
Education/Professional Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent education; and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 1-year prior experience operating a CAT 966 or similar loader is required.
