Staff, Software Development Engineer (Information Technology)

Job Summary:

Responsibilities:
- Develops software applications that instrument operation, data collection, analysis, storage and transfer.
- Interacts regularly with hardware engineering staff to understand system functionality and requirements.
- Collaborates closely with other development staff members to ensure high quality and timely delivery of features and enhancements.
- Writes clear documentation of software functionality and usage.
- Performs unit testing of code prior to release into production.
- Works closely with Quality Assurance personnel to address issues found during testing.
- Delivers application updates to production in a timely manner.
- Provides technical support to end users of applications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field plus three years of experience or Master's degree in CS plus one year of experience.
- Experience developing embedded systems using C, C++ .
- Working knowledge of object oriented programming principles.
- Knowledge of software development processes & tools such as Git, JIRA
- Ability to write efficient, modular code that is easy to maintain.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Strong problem solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
Extra Value Experience:
- Experience with wire protocols - especially PCIe.
- Experience with hardware control or device drivers.
- Experience with web design front ends.
- Experience with Visual Studio IDE.
