The Embedded Software Engineer position is on-site 3-5 days/week in our San Francisco office in the Embarcadero area, easily reachable by many transportation options. Participate in all phases of software development including specification, detailed design, testing and design review. Provide support and training for developed products to related departments. Responsible for designing, implementing, and testing software following internally created design processes. Tasks can be very complex, but typically follow established general procedures and are carried out collaboratively with peer associates. Works with minimal direct supervision but communicates frequently with peers and supervisors on all aspects of development. We are no longer in start-up mode; while there will be new products added in the future, we continue to customize or upgrade our existing products, offering a level of stability to qualified developers.
Requirements:
BS. or M.S. (preferred) or equivalent degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related field.
3-5 years embedded software development project experience would be ideal, however, will consider experience in professional university or personal environments.
Proficiency in C++ language object-oriented software design skills.
Familiarity (either professional or project) with general embedded real-time operating systems (RTOS) concepts. Experience ideally includes a project with multi-threading, synchronization, and task scheduling and prioritization.
Read and comprehend electrical schematics and troubleshoot hardware problems on prototype boards.
Exposure to software development tools such as gcc, Git, ALM systems, QMS systems, and Linux operating systems preferred.
Familiarity with Python, C, C#, Lua, IEC61131-3 and network socket programming concepts and general network troubleshooting preferred but not required.
Interest and exposure to robotics extremely helpful.
Ability to comprehend and contribute to software design documents, references, and technical specifications.
Practical experience with using electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, chart recorders, logic analyzers, etc.
Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem solving skills required.
Strong communication skills.
Salary: $100K-$155K/year; depending on experience
