6. Reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of personnel.
Your primary focus will be to support multiple STEM education research projects aimed at expanding the university's engineering education research portfolio. You will collaboratively work with the Henderson Research Group, the Manuel Research Group, and the Peters-Hawkins Research Group. As this is a new project, we seek researchers who approach this position with: (a) maximum flexibility- we will be doing things that have never been done, thus we do not have a blueprint for them (b) an ability to trailblaze and build something from the ground up (e.g., contributing to the development of the new engineering education certificate program at UH) (c) vision to help curate what community-engaged STEM education research could look like at the University of Houston and beyond. Broadly, your responsibilities will include:
• Innovation in Research
o Planning and executing high-quality qualitative and/or mixed methods research projects
o Analyzing qualitative and/or quantitative data
o Helping to develop new and emerging research ideas and preparing grant proposals under the guidance of Drs. Henderson, Manuel, Peters-Hawkins & Horton to fund these ideas
o Committing to learning about and using community-engaged research practices
• Innovation in Project Dissemination
o Using novel methods to disseminate research (e.g., photovoice)
o Publishing articles in high-quality peer-reviewed journals
o Conducting literature reviews
o Presenting at conferences
• Innovation in Education
o Contributing to the development and execution of mentoring PhD and undergraduate students
o Developing courses and co-teaching for our engineering education certificate program
o Contributing to the development of K-12 outreach projects for our K-12 research
Experience will be considered in lieu of education.
Education will be considered in lieu of experience.
MQ: Master's Degree with 5 years experience.
